What Is Lip Blush Tattoo?
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of high definition brows, feathering, or microblading. Whatever you call it, we’ve all heard of the art of tattooing brows. But there’s a new kid on the block to complement those fabulous brows.
Lip blush tattoo.
So, what exactly is lip blushing?
It is an incredible innovation in semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo pioneered by Christopher Drummond of PFrank MD. Although lip blush tattoo is not designed to make the lips look fuller, it will define and brighten them, giving the illusion of fuller, more youthful-looking lips.
Using the latest and safest in pigmentation technology, lip blush tattoo will create a beautiful, petal-like blush to your lips, producing a natural hue that needs nothing more than a slick of gloss to complete your look. Don’t expect stark, dramatic lines; lip blushing is all about soft, feminine, natural lips.
What shades can I choose?
This procedure isn’t something you choose to do to follow a trend. This is designed to have a subtle effect to freshen up a tired-looking face. For best results, try on different shades of lipstick and find one you are happy to live with for 2-5 years. Whether it’s pink, red, or brown, your artist will be able to advise on which shade is best suited to your skin tone (and you will still be able to wear lipstick over the top!)
Can I have it done if I have sensitive skin or allergies?
Your artist will always assess and take allergies and sensitivities into account. People with minor allergies or skin sensitivities may still be eligible for cosmetic tattooing but the client must disclose any allergies to numbing agents prior to the appointment.
Anyone with a history of cold sores should take a preventative tablet (available over the counter from the chemist) on the day of their appointment to avoid an outbreak as any treatment to the lips can increase the risk.
You should also avoid alcohol, caffeine, fish oil, vitamin E, aspirin, and ibuprofen, as they cause the blood to thin, resulting in increased bleeding.
How long does lip blush tattoo take to heal?
The lips will scab for about 5- 7 days and should be fully healed after about 4 weeks. At around the 6 week mark, discuss with your artist whether or not you need a touch up to fill in areas that may not have healed evenly or even to alter the shape slightly.
It is important to note that the colour immediately after the tattoo is not the final result. The colour will fade approximately 30- 50% and will blend in with the natural shade of the lips.
What else do I need to know?
As with any kind of tattooing, aftercare is extremely important. Expect some scabbing, but constant moisturising with an aftercare cream or balm will help them stay nourished and keep them looking glossy too!
